First All-Parish Community Garden Work Day a Success!
The Community Garden Organizing Committee declares this past Saturday (Oct. 6), our first All-Parish Garden Work Day, a monumental success! In Hoes Signo Vinces!!

The new community garden was descended upon by metal rake-toting parishoners wielding garden carts and wheelbarrows, chunking rocks and debris, plowing, planting and generally having a great time doing it.

Thanks to some of the rake-waving villagers, there was also an abundant supply of bottled water and snacks. And in spite of a drizzly beginning to the day, the weather back away from its early threats, and contributed some cool breezes and partly cloudy skies to the pleasant and productive environment.

Farmer Harry promises us pictures and "scoops" for the Web very soon. Stay tuned!

All Creatures Great and Small
Blessing of the animals will take place on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6TH AT 12:30 P.M. in the garden. Chicks, ducks, geese, horses, snakes, birdies and even some kitties and pooches are all invited to be among our guests of honor in the spirit of Sts. Francis and Clare.

Francis wrote a Canticle of the Creatures, an ode to God’s living things. “All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.” And there was testimony in the cause for St. Clare of Assisi’s canonization that referred to her little cat!

God loves all creatures. Saturday we celebrate that, and them. And we bless them. So trot, gallop, scamper, hop, slither, fly or simply drive or stroll on down this Saturday at 12:30pm for a prayer and a blessing, and maybe even some treats. Walkies, anyone?
