I heard one parishioner say to another, "I'm glad you're here for the quiet day! We've gotta talk!"
What's not to love about this place?
Canon Lucks quiet demeanor and brief reflection questions before sending us out into the elements to experience the solitude of prayer were exactly what most of us needed. Mark next lent on your calendars now to look for the next quiet day.
Here's what you missed, if you did:

presented by
The Reverend Canon George Luck
Saturday, Feb 28, 2009
9:00am - 3:00pm
Sponsored by Daughters of the King, St. Francis Chapter.
- What is more important, what we want to say to God or what God wants to say to us?
- How may we have a personal relationship with God?
- How do we have a personal relationship with anyone?
Space will be made available throughout the day for quiet reflection. Lunch will be provided in a quiet setting. Please RSVP to Lynne McLean, 214-324-5607 or lynnie0201@sbcglobal.net.

Every April, the AIDS Interfaith Network (AIN) hosts the Bloomin' Ball. The festive event is set in April when the floral blooms of spring symbolize renewal and hope. Through the Bloomin’ Ball AIN sows seeds of hope… Hope helps sustain the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS.Every year, a highlight of the Ball is the presentation of the respected Crystal Hope Awards. This signature award of AIN is its way of saying thanks and of recognizing those who make significant contributions to the cause of serving people with HIV/AIDS and helping prevent the spread of HIV.
This year the organization has chosen us, The Episcopal Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, to receive this honor!
Here's the letter Outreach chairperson, David Silva read at Sunday's 10:00 liturgy. Let's thank AIN, and congratulate David, the Outreach Committee, the Vestry, Fr. Stephen and each other for this tremendous honor.
Dear Rev Waller, Pat, and David,Each year AIDS Interfaith Network [AIN] gives our signature Crystal Hope Award and we choose up to 3 recipients each year. This award is our way of saying Thanks and of recognizing those who make significant contributions to the cause of serving people with HIV/AIDS and helping prevent the spread of HIV. The recipient of one of the awards is chosen from the faith community--and this year we would like that recipient to be The Episcopal Church of St. Thomas the Apostle.
So I am writing to ask if you would accept this award. The ceremony is included as part of the dinner program in our annual fundraising event the Bloomin' Ball...sowing seeds of hope that is held in April. This year the event is Saturday evening April 25 at the Westin Park Central Hotel.
St. Thomas has continued to serve in the cause of helping people with HIV/AIDS and to supporting efforts to prevent the spread of HIV; to offer a welcoming spiritual home; and to support efforts in the community including AIN with funding for our meals program. Our history as an organization links to St. Thomas--AIN was birthed in the parlor there over 23 years ago. St. Thomas has been part of the pastoral network on whom we can call and to whom we can refer from the beginning, and you have been one of the champions in the cause of HIV/AIDS from the beginning.
For all these reasons and more we want to recognize you, thank you, and celebrate the contribution that you have made not only financially to us but also to the community as a whole.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Steven
