Haiti
Good People: All of us are overwhelmed by the news from Haiti. Pray.

Please also give some thought to a way our parish might reach into the chaos on behalf of our Loving God.

The St. Thomas the Apostle Vestry encourages the entire parish to be generous in their prayers and donations for the unfolding tragedy in Haiti.

Please donate directly to the Episcopal Relief and Development Haiti Fund and not to St. Thomas.

Housekeeping and the "Special Convention"

He is the Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion at Oregon State University. Friday his topic is: "An Emerging Form of Christianity for Today." Saturday he will speak on: "The Bible's vision of Christianity" & "Being Christian in the 21st Century." The cost is $10 per person (each day) Make your reservation online at www.saintmichael.org or call Adult Formation at 214.363.5422.

A "SPECIAL CONVENTION"?

The Clergy and Delegates to Diocesan Convention received notice by email and real mail that our bishop has called a "Special Convention" for March 6th. It will meet at Saint Michael and All Angels at 9:30 a.m. The stated purpose is: "consider and respond to the Anglican Covenant and to dispose of one resolution submitted to the 114th Annual Convention." Your Vestry and I decided to write our bishop a letter questioning the purpose and wisdom of the called "Special Convention" which I will share with you once Hampton Burwick, our Senior Warden, and I have sent it.

VESTRY RETREAT AFTERMATH

The just past Vestry Retreat met at the new home of Brent and Denise Glass Friday and Saturday. At our meeting the vestry elected Jerry Knight to be the Clerk; Paul DesRochers to be the Treasurer; Paula Loe to be the Assistant Treasurer; Denise Webb Glass to be our Chancellor and Greg Grosh to be the Junior Warden. I am grateful to these folk for their willingness to serve us.

THE PICKING OF THE NITS: LET THERE BE LIGHTS LEFT ON

Nit-Picking: When we redid our "West Wing" some areas of the building had lights installed which come on by themselves and turn themselves off. If all of us would leave those switches alone, they would do their job. Upon entering certain areas the lights come on automatically. They turn off when the areas are no longer occupied. Please refrain from punching them off when you leave...it screws up the system and makes them not work properly. Nit picked! Thanks.
