Hampton Burwick, nominated for three-year vestry term:
I served on the St Thomas Vestry during 2004 through 2006. I enjoyed the experience very much. This was the first time that I had served on a Vestry since becoming an Episcopalian in 1987. I knew when my term ended that I would like to serve on Vestry again.
A few highlights during my term were: a Capital Campaign was initiated, funds were raised, construction for the rebuild of the West Wing was started and nearly completed, and an endowment fund was instituted.
I love the fact that St Thomas has such a wealth of experienced volunteers so that no one person carries the total responsibility of bringing projects to fruition. We all work as a team, and I really enjoy being on St Thomas' team.
Greg Grosh, nominated for a three-year vestry term:
I realize that I might seem to be a stranger to many of you who have joined St. Thomas over the last few years. I just returned to Dallas this past year after a hiatus of four years or so. However, St. Thomas has been my 'church' home for going on twenty years having first arrived here prior to Stephen's joining us and I have been an Episcopalian for thirty-some years.
During much of my time as a parishioner I've been unable to volunteer time or serve on the vestry because of a career that required my traveling over 80% of my time. Being retired allows me the luxury of being able to donate my time to the church in ways that were impossible to consider before.
Besides the desire to serve St. Thomas in ways that I couldn't before, I do bring some relevant experience to the position. As a management consultant for over 20 years I reviewed processes and made critical recommendations without pride of authorship - a requirement as a consultant. As one of three partners of a company with 130 employees for 15 years, consensus building was key to our success as no one person had sufficient ownership to get his own way. And lastly, I have been the Chairman and President of a non-profit which balances my commercial background.
Pat Vaughan, nominated for a three-year vestry term:
If you choose me to serve on the vestry at St. Thomas the Apostle, I will bring nine years experience as a full participant in most activities of the parish: Sunday school, 10:00 a. m. Eucharist, Wednesday evening worship including Advent and Lenten programs, foyers, social events, and fund raisers.
My committee assignments have included outreach, budget, capital campaign, greeters, telephone, audit, discernment, office volunteer, social, and kitchen. I have chaired both the budget committee and the outreach committee so I have a good understanding of parish finances in both good and lean years. I try to talk with as many members and visitors as possible at each parish event and am always interested in listening to what others have to say.
In addition to my church activities, I have worked for many years as both professional and volunteer for several not-for-profit organizations, some of which operate on consensus decisions. I am a good team member, working equally well as leader or follower.
Election to the vestry at St. Thomas will give me another opportunity to serve my church community.

Joe DeuPree, nominated for a three-year term as diocesan convention delegate:
I am happy to allow my name to be put in nomination as a Delegate to the Diocesan convention because a woman who I admire a great deal asked me if she could nominate me. Like her, I am a lifelong Episcopalian and a long-time member of St. Thomas the Apostle. I’ve been fortunate enough to have found my spiritual home here and am always willing to serve in whatever capacity I may be deemed useful for the common good.
Clara Grissom, nominated for a three-year term as diocesan convention delegate:
I would like a voice in the current direction of the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church. I have the gifts of perseverance; can think through a thought, not given to snap decisions and know how to listen objectively. I am a retired teacher of Handicapped children and youth (speech pathologist/teacher of the deaf); hospital chaplaincy; on a search committee; chairperson of stewardship committee; involved in music and altar guild.
Sandee Lowe, nominated for a three-year term as diocesan convention delegate:
I understand the issues that are currently before this Diocese, ECUSA and the World Church. I know the feelings of this parish, those liberal, those who are warriors, some who are conservative and those who are silently waiting, watching and praying. I believe that “stay the course” and unity is our one common thread, our binding in troubled times and this parish wants that vote at convention. We do not forsake or leave, we continue to hold dear, to love and to pray for our family - each member, whether they agree with us or not and St. Thomas wishes, craves to be part of the bigger family.
A team player with tenacity and a whole bunch of humor who has creative problem solving skills, compassion, empathy and flexibility for those who think and feel differently than I do. Folks may not see my side of an issue, but then “my way” is not the only way. Everything in life is negotiable IF we remain open, talk, feel and care for each other.
Twenty-two years working in the corporate arena and getting past personalities, our egos “they done me wrong” etc, and moving into “this will work”; an ability to study and read the issues and the bio’s of those running for office, and if need be, meeting them personally and then voting responsibly for the betterment of our parish and the
Episcopal Diocese.

Chet Flake, nominated for a three-year term as endowment trustee:
Having been a parishioner of St. Thomas for 20 years, serving on the Vestry for 3 years ,one year as Senior Warden, and helping to shepherd the building fund prior to this final step in renovation, renewal , and rebuilding, it would be an honor to serve as a Trustee of the Endowment Fund. The continued life of St. Thomas is a most important part of my journey,
